ReStructure Mix Update (7/31/22): “Everyman” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Double Exposure
Double Exposure is one of Salsoul Records early marks in dance history. The group included Charles Whittington, Jimmy Williams, Joe Harris, and Leonard Davis – and backing the ensemble were members of the Salsoul Orchestra sessions. This brought the soulful edge of vocals and gospel energy to disco music. As the strings wind into each verse and chorus the funky basslines provide that bumpin’ rhythm base that later became house music in the 80s. “Everyman” is from their 1976 project titled “Ten Percent” and gives a new shine to disco music of the time. One of the great pieces and outlines on the Salsoul label and now a classic.
I have taken the 12” of “Everyman” – both the vocal and instrumental and transformed the piece into a new ReStructure Mix. Pounding out the bass line with new beats to give it more power and several new breaks to make this one a welcome once again.
