Learn how to play James Brown Funk tunes with his guitarist of 8 years, Damon Wood.
I played over 400 shows with Mr. Brown worldwide between 1998 and 2006.
I was in his opening band for 18 months and then got into his band and that lasted 6 1/2 years.
This lesson shows how to play the main rhythm part for "Make It Funky", shows how that same rhythm also crossed over to "Hot Pants".
I also discuss the bridge riff for "Hot Pants" and loop the rhythm so you can hear the parts played together.
Then we do the main rhythm and bridge of "Sex Machine".
I also play the basic rhythm for the song "Try Me" and I discuss how up and down rhythm strokes work and what Mr. Brown meant by "play down".
