Vicky D, who are you and where did you go? I know that you were a backing vocalist for Roy Ayers Ubiquity album in 1972. Roy Ayers is a well respected and experienced jazz funk musician for a genre I really love. Vicky D is Victoria Hospedale with no other credits than one more single "Mystery Lover" as Vicky D. "This Beat Is Mine" is her shining moment on the dancefloor as it peaked at #11 disco and #64 R&B. Nothing further ever charted nor was released since then. Someone asked me to remix this one years ago...about five now I think...and I couldnt figure it out until tonight. Wanted to get this one out there tonight to make a happy sound for you to listen to. Snoop Dogg hooked up with this one sampling it for his song "This Weed Iz Mine" for 2011's Doggumentary CD. One more thing, Gary from Gary's Gang (Keep On Dancing) produced both of her solo singles.
